Wrapping Up The Weekend On A Nice Note…Look for lots of sunshine to start the day before mid and high level cloudiness slowly increase during the second half of the day. It’ll be a warm afternoon as highs approach 70 degrees.
Moisture will increase ahead of a cold front that will sweep through central Indiana Monday afternoon/ evening. Some of the shorter term forecast models are hinting at a thin line of thunderstorms preceding the frontal passage Monday afternoon.
We’re back to dry and pleasant conditions Tuesday and Wednesday, but the dry times won’t last. A rather unsettled pattern appears to lie ahead late week and heading into next weekend. There’s considerable inconsistencies with run to run output from our computer models, so the forecast confidence during the aforementioned period is lower than normal. Stay tuned.

Well Deserved Sunshine…After a week of storms and rain, this forecast should be music to the ears of most Hoosiers. We forecast both today and Sunday to offer up plentiful sunshine and very pleasant temperatures. Get out there and enjoy it!
Moisture increases Monday and we’ll introduce showers into the forecast as a southerly flow takes hold in advance of a weak cold front.
Mid week should feature drier conditions before a stronger storm system provides a wet end to the week, complete with thunderstorms Thursday and cooler, more showery weather Friday.

Stay Weather Aware…As we type this central Indiana is enjoying a brief lull in what’s been a rather active day, complete with strong to severe thunderstorms. Latest scans of our short term forecast models suggest the quiet times don’t last long as more thunderstorms rumble into central Indiana during the overnight hours. Hail, vivid lightning, and additional flooding is possible with overnight/ early Thursday morning storms.
Attention then shifts to the possibility of a rather significant severe weather outbreak Thursday afternoon into Thursday night, particularly if we get rid of morning convection and cloud debris. Tonight’s data would suggest we do clear things out Thursday afternoon and this would add “fuel to the fire” for potential severe weather Thursday night. All modes of severe weather are in play Thursday night, including large hail, damaging straight line winds, and tornadoes. Flash flooding will also remain a concern as some areas have accumulated more than 3″ of rain today alone.
The cold front and associated surface low responsible for Thursday’s severe weather will sweep the state Friday and usher in a much cooler and breezy regime Friday evening that will continue into Saturday. Sunshine returns in full force Saturday and Sunday. Perfect timing, huh?!
Enjoy that sunshine and calmer times of the weekend as rainy and stormy conditions return quickly early next week. All-in-all, the overall theme remains a warm, wet, and stormy one.
Upcoming 7-Day Precipitation Forecast:
- 7-Day Rainfall Forecast: 2.50″ – 3.00″

Keep The Rain Gear Handy…A stationary boundary remains draped across the Ohio Valley and will serve as the focal point for scattered showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday. Some of the storms may be strong and include torrential downpours. That said, there will be many dry hours, as well.
We shift our focus to the chance of severe weather Thursday as surface low pressure moves into the Great Lakes and swings a cold front into a warm, humid, and relatively unstable air mass locally. As of now, damaging straight line winds and large hail are the biggest concerns, but there’s also the chance of a tornado. Stay tuned.
After an early shower Friday, we’ll clear things out nicely to wrap up the work week and head into the weekend. Friday will be much cooler, but that April sun will help temperatures recover quickly Saturday. Most of Sunday will be dry, but we’ll introduce showers Sunday evening. This will set up a stormy open to next week.
Upcoming 7-Day Precipitation Forecast:
- 7-Day Rainfall Forecast: 2.00″ – 2.50″
- 7-Day Snowfall Forecast: 0.00″

Beautiful Weather This Weekend Before A Stormy Week…Timing couldn’t be more perfect! Between the Final Four festivities today and Easter Sunday, weather conditions simply couldn’t be any better!
We’ll begin to reverse things in a rather marked fashion early next week as moisture increases. Periods of showers and thunderstorms will be with us throughout the week, particularly Tuesday through Thursday. Waves of stronger storms and heavy rain can be expected.
Championship Monday will feature mostly dry conditions, but clouds will be on the increase and light showers will arrive towards afternoon/ evening.
The focal point for the most significant rain and storms will center itself Tuesday through Thursday and we’ll be more detailed around any severe potential and timing as we get closer. For now, get outside and enjoy this weather!

Enjoy Today; Very Busy Times Coming…Let’s get the easy and good stuff out of the way first- today will feature simply stunning weather conditions across the region. Wall-to-wall sunshine and temperatures climbing into the middle 60s after a chilly start! Enjoy!
A warm front will lift through the state late tonight and Thursday morning. This may help ignite scattered thunderstorms early Thursday morning. We’ll then see a “lull” in the action before additional waves of thunderstorms rumble in during the afternoon and evening. Some of these storms may reach severe limits with hail and damaging straight line winds of greatest concern.
A secondary area of low pressure will slowly traverse the Ohio Valley Friday and deliver widespread moderate to heavy rain. As the low scoots to our east, it’ll help pull much colder air into the area. Temperatures will fall through the day and rain will begin to mix with wet snow Friday night. While we won’t deal with accumulation here, areas from northern Indiana over to northern Ohio may pick up a light slushy accumulation of snow.
We’ll clear things out just in time for Saturday, but it’ll be a cool and breezy day, especially early. Most of Easter Sunday will also feature sunny and pleasant conditions, but moisture will increase late and we’ll mention the chance of showers by evening.
Early next week is back to the active regime with multiple waves of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday. Heavy rainfall and embedded strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible.
Upcoming 7-Day Precipitation Forecast:
- 7-Day Rainfall Forecast: 2.5″ – 3.5″
- 7-Day Snowfall Forecast: 0.00″

Enjoy The Dry Time…A fast moving weather maker will scoot by to our northeast Tuesday morning. This will deliver rain and snow for our friends to our east. We’ll enjoy being on the southwest side of the track of this system and as a result we can expect lots of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures. Wednesday will also feature lots of sunshine.
A new storm system will approach Thursday and deliver showers and thunderstorms into the picture. Some of the rain may be heavy at times. Additionally, we think another wave of low pressure will keep a rather steady rain in play Friday, as well. Temperatures will fall through the day Friday. As of now, it appears as if it’ll be a rather damp and raw close to the work week.
An early sprinkle or snow flurry is possible Saturday, but most of the day will be dry. Easter Sunday will dawn dry, but moisture will increase during the latter portion of the day. We’ll introduce showers into the picture Sunday afternoon.
Upcoming 7-Day Precipitation Forecast:
- 7-Day Rainfall Forecast: 1.25″ – 1.50″
- 7-Day Snowfall Forecast: 0.00″
