Tuesday Forecast: Sun-Filled Autumn Stretch Ahead!

Updated 10.07.13 @ 6:41p

Zionsville, IN After a weekend featuring plentiful rain and embedded thunderstorms, it was nice to see the return of the sunshine to kick off the new work week.  For those craving a more fall-like feel to the air, well you have your wish with low humidity, warm days, and cool nights in store this week.

Status-weather-clear-iconTuesday through Friday: Mostly sunny; Lows in the lower 40s early in the period, rising to the upper 40s by Friday morning. Highs in the upper 60s Tuesday and lower to middle 70s Wednesday through Friday.

High pressure will remain in firm control of our weather as we progress through the rest of the work week.  After a cool start to the period (some outlying areas will dip into the 30s tonight), temperatures will moderate through the remainder of the week, getting back above normal by mid week.  Mostly sunny skies will prevail this week, giving us a much needed chance to dry out after the heavy weekend rainfall.

Status-weather-clouds-iconSaturday: Partly cloudy; 52/ 76

Our next storm system will begin to approach the region for the second half of the weekend. The way we see things now is that we should get a dry first half of the weekend in with just some increasing cloudiness during the afternoon.  It’ll be a nice Saturday with above normal temperatures and dry conditions.

Status-weather-showers-scattered-iconSunday: Showers; 0.2559/ 70

A cold front will pass through the state Sunday and feature scattered to numerous showers as it crosses the region.  We’re not looking at any sort of heavy rain or severe weather with this frontal passage.

Status-weather-clouds-iconMonday: Partly cloudy; 56/ 69

Similar to that of today, we should see the sunshine return to kick off the new work week, after a gloomy end to the weekend.  Temperatures don’t appear to be particularly cool behind Sunday’s frontal passage, but we’ll shave a couple of degrees off the thermometer next Monday.

Saturday Forecast: Stormy Weekend Unfolding

Updated 10.05.13 @ 6:32a

Zionsville, IN After a pleasant end to the work week (how about highs once again zooming into the 80s Friday?!), we begin to undergo major weather changes as we progress through the weekend.  Our hats are off to the European model for nailing this heavy rain threat days in advance. After a sub-par performance earlier this week with rainfall amounts, it’s making up for “lost time” and in quick fashion.

Status-weather-showers-day-iconSaturday: Mostly cloudy, showers and t-storms; 1.00″ 66/ 78

While we may muster a little sunshine during the daytime hours Saturday, we think most of the day is mostly cloudy, warm, and humid, with an increasing risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms. We bracket the evening and overnight as the best time period for significant thunderstorms, including a severe thunderstorm. We anticipate damaging straight line winds as the primary focus for severe weather, but a quick spin-up tornado or two is possible. Severe weather is dangerous any time of the day, but particularly dangerous at night.  Be sure to keep tuned to local media and make sure to have your weather radio on alert mode. Another item of concern? The heavy rainfall threat. Most of central Indiana should check in with 1″, or more, of rainfall by the end of the day.

Status-weather-storm-night-iconSunday: Thunderstorms; 1.25″ 51/ 66

The cold front will slow to a crawl as it progresses through the state and as a result, we look for heavy rain and embedded thunder continuing Sunday, especially during the morning and early afternoon. Rain will end from west to east as we progress through the afternoon hours. Heavy rainfall is likely for the entire region, but especially for the eastern and southeastern portions of the state. Temperatures will begin to fall as we go through the afternoon.

Status-weather-showers-scattered-iconMonday: Mostly cloudy, showers; 0.10″ 50/ 59

An upper level low will remain overhead Monday creating a much cooler day along with considerable cloudiness and scattered showers. Highs likely won’t make it out of the 50s for many across central Indiana.

Status-weather-showers-day-iconTuesday: Partly to mostly cloudy, small shower chance; 0.10″ 45/ 62

Weather conditions will begin to improve as we move into Tuesday. We should add a little more sunshine to the mix and rain chances will diminish.  An isolated shower is possible, but many communities will remain rain-free Tuesday.

Status-weather-clear-iconWednesday through Friday: Mostly sunny; lower to middle 40s/ lower to middle 70s

We’ll enjoy dry conditions with lots of sunshine and moderating temperatures as we progress through the back half of next week.

Friday Forecast: Feeling Like Summer In October

Status-weather-clouds-iconFriday: Partly cloudy; 64/ 84

While we cannot rule out an isolated shower or thunderstorm Friday, we think the majority of central Indiana wraps up the work week rain-free. Get outside and enjoy temperatures at summer-like levels. We think we top the middle 80s with continued unseasonably muggy conditions prevailing.

Status-weather-showers-day-iconSaturday: Increasing clouds; late showers and t-storms; 0.40″ 66/ 80

Most of your Saturday looks rain-free and continued unseasonably warm. We’ll note a gusty southwesterly breeze from time to time. As a cold front approaches, skies will begin to cloud up and scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop. Rain chances will be with us in a widely scattered form from late morning on, but the better chances of getting wet appear to arrive Saturday night. We also note the Storm Prediction Center has placed the region in a Slight Risk of severe weather, with damaging winds the primary threat Saturday night. Stay tuned!

Status-weather-showers-day-iconSunday: Cloudy with showers and t-storms- late day clearing; 0.60″ 50/ 66

Showers and thunderstorms will be likely on your way to church Sunday morning, continuing into the afternoon before clearing takes place late. Winds will shift to the northwest and help usher in a MUCH cooler air mass Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will fall through the afternoon Sunday.

Status-weather-clear-iconMonday: Mostly sunny; 43/ 60

“FINALLY.” At least that will be the word IndyWx.com uses to describe Monday’s weather as some true autumn air builds into the region. Monday is shaping up to be a beauty of a day with bright sunshine and crisp, cool temperatures.

Status-weather-clear-iconTuesday: Mostly sunny; 44/ 68

Tuesday is looking to be a carbon copy of Monday thanks to high pressure remaining in control of our weather.  Classic early October weather conditions will prevail early next week.

Status-weather-clouds-iconWednesday & Thursday: Partly cloudy; mid to upper 40s/ lower to middle 70s

Dry conditions will continue as we progress through the middle of next week with moderating temperatures. Highs will return to above normal levels by Wednesday.

Thursday Forecast; Warm & Muggy Conditions Prevail
