Labor Day Weather Notebook…

September Scorcher:

September has gotten off on a downright hot note.

While we have a couple more days of highs that will push 90°, changes are brewing that will result in MUCH cooler air by week’s end. Needless to say, fall will be in the air…

Isolated Storms, But Most Remain Dry:

This morning’s satellite shows some mid and high level cloudiness drifting across IN, but a mostly dry and mostly sunny day is in store. Storm coverage the next couple days will be isolated and most will remain dry. Highs today and Tuesday will approach 90°-92°.

Rain and Storm Chances Increase:

Storm chances will go up as a cold front approaches mid week. Forecast models have been inconsistent on coverage and rainfall amounts Wednesday into Thursday, but it’s a safe bet to say the front will come through with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, along with locally heavy rainfall.

Much Cooler Autumn Air Builds In:

We’ll maintain the threat of a passing shower heading into the weekend, but the big weather story will be MUCH cooler air and breezy conditions. Highs Saturday and / or Sunday likely won’t climb out of the 60s as a significant upper level low remains nearby.
